This variation on the Buttonhole and Vandyke Edge is done in two colors using two needles.

Using color 1, come up in the fold at A. Go in at B on the reverse and out at C, which is in the fold next to A. Keep the needle over the working thread. Drop color 1 straight down the face of the fabric.

Using color 2, come up at D on the face below C. Pass over color 1. Go down at E and up on the reverse at F next to B.

Continue with color 2. Pass the needle under the crossed thread of color 1 on the top of the fold without entering the fabric. Drop color 2 straight down the face of the fabric.

Pick up color 1 and pass over color 2, which is hanging from the fold. Go in at G on the face and out at H on the reverse.

Continue with color 1. Pass the needle under the crossed threads of color 2 on the fold. Do not enter the fabric. Drop color 1 straight down the face. Repeat Steps 4 and 5.
