On the first side to be joined, come out at A in the fold of the hem. Insert the needle at B. Come up at C not through the fabric but behind the fold. Keep the working thread under the needle.

Go in at B. Up at D behind the fold. Keep the working thread under the needle.

Pass the needle behind AB and left of C. Keep the working thread under the needle. Tighten the knot.

On the second side to be joined, go in at E. Come up at F behind the fold. Keep the working thread under the needle.

Go in at E. Come up at G behind the fold. Keep the working thread under the needle.

Pass the needle behind the thread from the first side at F. Keep the working thread under the needle. Tighten the knot. Alternate sides to complete the join.
