This deflected element stitch is a variation of a Single Faggot stitch in which horizontal threads are double and vertical threads are single. It is worked diagonally beginning at the upper right corner of the shape to be filled.

The needle comes up at A and enters the fabric at B, coming up again at A.

The needle enters the fabric at B and comes out at C directly below A.

The needle enters at A and comes out at D to the left of C.

Starting at D repeat Steps 1 and 3.
