Occasion: Ceremony

People may don special articles of clothing or select clothing of a specific color for ceremonial occasions, such as weddings or graduations. While a bride today usually appears in a white gown for her wedding, in the nineteenth century a bride might have worn another color (though never red or black). Until the 1930s, wedding dresses reflected the styles current at the time of the wedding. After that time, full skirted dresses reminiscent of Victorian styles became popular.
